I am looking for a new system and like the B&W 684s - can anyone comment on how these fit with a NAD amp C325 or C315 and CD C515BEE vs Marantz PM6002/CD6002 combo?

Music interests are broad - Hard Rock to Pop and Acoustical tracks.

IMO NAD & B&W are much better than a Marantz & B&W combination.

More so for your music tastes.

Alos, IMO, i feel that you'd be better off with getting the NAD C352 integrated amp or the newer NAD C355BEE integrated amp if you want to drive B&W 684's.

Both those amps are more powerful than the aforementiond NAD amp and the B&W's need a good power source to get them to sing as they should!

Alos; with regards to your music tastes; ive found in the past that Marantz sounds very clinical with B&W speakers and feel that if you went down that route, the sound would be a bit too harsh in places with too forward treble and muddled midrange/bass.

The NAD sound is much better suited with solid punchy bass and crisp/clear treble. Vocals are also very good.

As we always say, it's a matter of taste. I don't think Marantz amps sound clinical with B&W, at least in my experience. I've kept DM 602 S2's for 10 years with Marantz PM68 and sound was all but clinical. On the contrary it was even too warm and relaxed to my tastes. Anyway when I purchased B&W's I auditioned them with PM66 SE and the combination sounded excellent to my ears.

PM 6002 is maybe a more upfront amp than Marantz standards but still I don't feel it's harsh or thin sounding. I woud define it detailed but still warm enough. My system plays everything well now, especially rock it's so much better with 6002!

Yes, NAD equipment is superb with B&W's. I've also listened to a Marantz combo with a pair of B&W 685's and they were absolutely rubbish (IMO).

Hello Molson,

I'm new here, therefore first I would like to say hi to all. I have a NAD C355BEE and last week I listened to it partnered with a B&W 684. It sounded so well, the sound it's suberb, way better than my actual Mission's 702e.

I don't know if you did bought the 684's, but as I see, it's a perfect match for the NAD C355BEE.

So I'm still composing my system: NAD C355BEE + NAD C545BEE + B&W 684. Next week I'm buying the cd player and then the speakers.

Please tell me if you did buy the B&W to match to you NAD or not? anyway you can contact me at: valkilm@hotmail.com, since we might have the same system...I'm from Portugal country, where are you from?

Regards,

J.Costa
