So after almost 6 years, my PV1 has totally died. The light on top glows green, but it produces no sound bar a faint ticking sound.

I had a bit of bother a few years back, with occasional drop-outs after scenes with heavy bass, but these were few and far between.

I've contacted B&W about arranging a repair, but I'm getting an 'out of office' auto reply. Here's hoping they'll still even touch an obsolete model.

I'll try again next week......

Can't afford to drop £1200 on a new PV1D, so hopefully any repair won't cost me too much, else I might have to consider a cheaper option. Biggest fear with any potential replacement will be losing the tightness with music.

Not again man! Hope you get it sorted soon, lucky mine has been problem free.

Well. after a couple of weeks and a lightening of my wallet to the tune of £110, the (hopefully) fully repaired PV1 has today been delivered to The Wife's work.

Counting the minutes until she gets home...

Glad you have hopefully got it fixed, and the bill don't seem that bad, although you expect £950 B&W sub to last!

I get the impression that Big Chris likes his bass...so 6 years is pretty good going!

Great that essentially you've got a new PV1 for £110 - bargain.

Working fine and they gave it a thorough clean so it also looks like new.

Hats off to B&W for a hassle free experience.

Nice one.

I think that is a pretty reasonable price. Nice that they cleaned it too.

Probably gonna jinx it now but my Yamaha sub has been going strong for at least 10 years now and it is used every day.

I've just had to replace the ampfilfier board in my SVS PC12-Plus subwoofer. Luckily when I bought it from LSound in Norwary in March 2012 (because at the time the American firm SVS had no outlets in the UK, though they have at least two now) it came with a five-year guarantee, so when I told them that the subwoofer wouldn't switch on at all LSound sent me a new amplifier board, plus they paid for return postage for me to send the faulty board back. This seems to have been a different type of fault from Big Chris's problem with his PV1 subwoofer. In my case it was much easier for for LSound to send me a new 2kg amplifier board than for me to try to send the whole 38kg subwoofer back to them!

TBH I don't have a clue what the issue was. May have been the amp but I think it might have related to some kind of overload protection circuitry fault.

So glad I kept the box, although B&W did offer to send appropriate packaging if I needed it. The box comes out of the loft for a couple of weeks each year anyway, as it's normally covered in wrapping paper and is used as a makeshift stand to put our fake Christmas tree on!.. :)

It's nice to know when a company provides good customer service like this.
