So my main setup is in my signature but I also have other setups so I will talk a bit about them. First off the bedroom setup. I have a pair of Rega Alya floorstand speakers (which I brought second hand for about £150) and a late 90's Technics CD player player hooked up to a Rotal RA-10 stereo amplifier. This setup works fantastically with mellow music (such as smooth jazz) as the speakers and stereo amp don't like anything to hard or aggressive. Its a perfect setup for the bedroom as I can drift off to sleep to some Melody Gradot or Ella Fitzgerald.

Next up is my kichen system. I have a pair of PSB imagine mini speakes (which I brought to go into the kitchen) and a early 90's Sony CD player hooked up to an Sony ES stereo amplifier. The speakers are on stands but the CD player and stereo amp are on the kitchen suface. To be honest this system is all wrong for the kitchen as I find it's to big and I never use the CD player as I'm always hooking up my laptop into the Sony ES and playing music off of that. Maybe I should just get something like the Zeppelin mini for my kitchen system.

Those are my other hi-fi setups. So what are yours?

I meant to have a second system a long time ago.

Actually I do have a second system* (but it's packed away).

My - potential - second system is a Marantz M-CR603 and a lovely pair of JPW Sonata bookshelf speakers (both items in tip-top working condition).

* It's only just now that i've realised they could be a 'second system'. I've just thought of them as 'spares'. Hmmm ...

I guess my third system is a FUBAR IV headphone amp amp that I have in my bedroom. If I could wrangle suitable space I would like to run my Fostex PM0.4n active speakers off it as well, but they are currently sitting in my cupboard unused together with a smallish subwoofer.

As I have a loft style apartment I can hear the hifi in every "room". However, I do have a Pure DAB with the extra speaker in the main bedroom and this provides a respectable quality sound for late night listening before I doze off.

We have a second television in the bedroom. Because we had a second stereo set that my other half already had when I met her, we have installed that in the bedroom. It's a Sony CMT-CPX1 (CD/FM/cassette/aux). Not bad at all for such small set.

We have an older HD-ready TV in the bedroom and connected to it are a cheap bluray player and our second cable TV recorder. I wanted to connect the TV to the stereo, so I got a little scart-adapter like this one. The TV doesn't have audio out, but does have a spare scart socket. The two other boxes are connected by HDMI, so the sound from the cable box and the bluray player are always routed to the stereo set via the TV. Obviously the sound is much better than from the TV speakers.

I think the little stereo set sounds better than most sound bars. CDs sound pretty good and the FM (from the cable company) isn't bad either. I still have a switch box in the attic if we ever want to connect more analogue sources, like a second Airport Express or a Google Chromecast Audio.

don't have main set up as I constanly move around the house and country with my different headphones/ amps combinations and I don't think any of them belong to 'main' or 'other' category.

I also don't think speakers in living room gain better status because of the placement. I know people with main systems away from noisy living rooms, wife, kids, guests.. however not everyone can afford luxury of dedicated men's cave.

I'm lucky. Although we don't have space for a dedicated listening room, the hi-fi in the lounge is set-up optimally and as one of the main priorities. This is because we both love listening to music and appreciate good sound. That system is the Rega RP3/Elys2/TTPSU with NAD PP2e, C516BEE, C316BEE and Q Acoustics 2020i.

I have a Sony CD/DAB shoebox-style system in the bedroom for use with headphones, and I have enough kit left over to put a system in place in the spare bedroom/study. For now that is likely to be Denon DCD720ae, Rega Brio-R, and Dynaudio DM2/6 speakers, but I'd like to end up with some good actives in there with the PC.

I am lucky enough to have a music room (well actually luck doesn't come Into it I've worked hard for my fabulous house) which houses my main system Nad C320BEE into Boston Acoustics M25's with my sources being Rega RP1, Marantz cd and a QED puck for streaming bluetooth - it didn't cost much and sounds truly amazing to my ears. My 'second' system in the living room Nad D3020 with Concept 20's actually cost more than my main system and although subtly different gives me just as much pleasure and I actually spend more time with it. My no3 system is in the kitchen Audioengine A2's which sound vast for their size, however, I am toying with the idea of a white Sonos 5 on the wall in there partly for aesthetic reasons but mainly for the grunt I'm told they can project..

I've spent a lot of time and money with much box changing to get where I am now, what a hobby!!

Good to see someone else has gone a bit crazy. My 'other' systems are:

1. Study

Devialet 200 > Vivid V1.5s

2. TV room

Peachtree Decco2 > Sonus faber Venere 1.5s

3. Conservatory

Musical Fidelity M-PWR > Neat Iotas

4. Holiday cottage

Devialet Silver Phantoms

5. Office

Adam ARTist 5s

All are sourced by Sonos Connect boxes, some modded, some not.

Actually this isn't the end of the story, as there are ceiling speakers in the kitchen/diner, and my wife has an old system in her study.

I use a Connect on my main system and I was just wondering what mods you've had done?

Apologies to the OP for veering off track.

The mods generally involve replacing the clock with one of a higher spec (which improves jitter performance, though whether this is audible is a moot point) and replacing the PSU, so as to reduce noise.

Apart from the hifi, I've got music in most rooms: 2 Ruark radios, 2 Denon Cocoons, and a Denon AVR with Tannoy Precision/SVS 5.1 setup in the sitting room.

But my real luxury is a Marantz MCR-603 (shortly to be replaced with a 611) that runs a set of speakers in the bedroom and a set of Boston Accoustics Soundware Cubes (not the little XS ones) in the bathroom so I can listen to music while I soak.

Main system: Mac Mini - Devialet 200 - Focal Electra 1008Be.

Second system: Apple PowerBook Pro - Chord Qute - Unison Research S8 - Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor M.

However, the above systems are not static and occasionally I like to partner different amps and speakers with each other.

The Focals and Valves get on very well together as do the SF's and the Devialet.

Having the luxury of two very different listening rooms also adds variety to the mix.
