Music

*lol*

I also laughed out loud.

But the answer to your question is, no. I could possibly point you in the direction of some traditonal Japanese music, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it, as it sent me to sleep when I visited Kyoto.

Where is the best place on the forum? Couldn't find a separate section for music.

Probably "Off topic and miscellaneous". (Plus I like the irony of music being 'off topic' on a hi-fi forum 🙂 )

However, if I were starting out with a completely unknown musical form then i'd probably start in the usual places like YouTube and amazon ...

Clicky

Spotify maybe.

just googling chinese folk music, reveals that it takes many forms.

You asked for recommendations for good music, so I suspect that even amongst chinese forum members, there could be many different opinions as to which is the best type, and then artist.

I guess just try youtube or spotify, and explore what is out there, until you identify which types you like.

The fun may be in the journey, rather than trying to immediately reach the destination.

- Liu Fang (pipa, ghuzeng). Especially the latter instrument i find beatiful music

- Min Xiao Fen (pipa)

- Hok-man Yim (Chinese persussion)

- 'Rough guide to China' (modern and traditional)

Thanks for everyone's input.
I heard a sample on Radio 2 and wanted more!
I have listened to a few samples on various sites but not found what I'm after yet.
I can understand why one might nod off to some of it!
Again, thanks to all!
