Hi I'm in the process of renovating my house, I want to put speakers into the kitchen ceiling, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. So 4 zones-I was going to wire all speakers back to 1 position, I wanted a sonos system, will each zone have to have it's own box (I can't remember what these sonos boxes are called) or can they all be put away into 1 bix box and still control each room separately? Also I haven't looked into sonos into much detail but can I have a different song playing in each zone at the same time?

And just to add that even if you have the different zone players in each room, as well as playing different songs at the same time you can synch them to play the same songs at the same time.
It's 1 zone per Sonos zone player.
However, there's nothing to stop you from piping the output into an amp that can support more than one room, and thus get the output from that Sonos into different rooms without buying extra players.

Thanks Kinda, So I'm looking at about £260 for each zone player. Is there anything on the market that can bypass this etc.... Obviously steering away from sonos
£260 will only get you a zp90 which has no amplifier, so you can't connect them directly to speakers, you'd need amplifiers anyway. The zp120 has its own amplifier and you can connect two pairs of speakers to one of those provided the impedance of the speakers are 8ohm.
Another thing if you have in ceiling speakers in the kitchen. Beware of sound leakage into the room above. This might not be a good idea if it's a young childs bedroom for example.
You could also look at something like the Squeezebox Touch. This could work out cheaper.
If you go for something like a Sonos system you do not have to waste money of running all speaker wires to one location. Each zone unit can be placed near to the speakers as long as it has power.
One unit will have to be connected to your router via an ethernet cable though. Unless you go a zone bridge. This connects to the router and then crates the like the Sonos wifi mesh to the router.
You will also need to have your music on a pc or NAS unless you only want to use internet radio and Napster/Spotify streaming.
