Dear All,

I am in a bit of a pickle. I have my heart set on the B&W MT-30 system and until recently was happy to listen to it with the new Denon AVR1909, however after booking my audition Sevenoaks SAV explained to me that they would be unhappy in selling me that system as the AVR1909 isnt good enough to get the best out of the speakers. They instead recommened a more expensive amp to partner it. I have booked by audition next week and will wait and see.

I have also called B&W they have said the Denon is a fine partner. Please does anyone have any thoughts. A post from What HiFi would be most welcome

Well, personally I'd insisit on having a listen with the Denon, and see what you think. If you can't hear solid benefits with the amp the shop suggests, buy the Denon.

I've only heard that package with the 2808 from Denon - it sounded great - I reckon the 1909 will be fine also but the speakers are good enough to go with a better receiver.

I have the Onkyo 905 with MT 30's. So if your budget can stretch to that I would recommend this particular set-up.
