Go on troll tell me if I'm a supercilious tw-t as in your previous post. Some of us stand up to people like you. Hopefully we can weed you out from this forum in some way.

Great then that means you won't respond to further posts of mine. I thought I'd flushed you down the toilet this morning. Please don't come back up again.

I think you are an absolute idiot grim harry that hides behind a keyboard. And I'm going to find out who you and then pursue all avenues with you, and once I've done that I'm going to report you as necessary to employers etc. Oh and your name is with the police too.

Give it a rest mate. There's a reason why most forumees are signed up anonymously. I'd like to hear how you get on with your quest to find out who he is. Also you appear to assume too many things... like he is employed for one.

oh the reason being they can say what they like, break the law, and spoil it for everyone else. Like the guy who calls me a tw-t and wants a fight. And now you can defend them. Charming.

Of folks here from different countries . And they will not be under the purview of UK laws.

This is just the beginning of modern internet. Going ahead we will only have successfull city states. So someone not belonging to the same city Will also be impervious to the law.

No because jurisdiction governs the laws of the site, and if anyone from the us (which tends to be a large ppn of internet traffic) is trolling, you can be assured that us laws are much stronger than in the uk. the effect in the future will be to bring the internet into line with how our laws have developed in a non computer world. This seems fairly obvious as child suicides and various other infractions caused by the worst elements of forums, are always on the increase.

FWIW. I would avoid amps that are on the clinical side...and for my taste Cyrus would not be a good match.

I would look at 2nd hand amps from Arcam, Musical Fidelity, Sugden, Unison Research Unico and Audio Analogue.

the image isn't to do just with position, it's the quality of amplification. I could swap my cyrus mono x200s for x powers and the soundstage will shrink. I know because I've had them

Just to clarify - The Image and soundstage has, in the first place, to be there in the recording...and that is down to how the recording was made/miked.

Interesting article here: http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/optimizing-the-soundstage-with-speaker-placement/

Finally there is the system quality - The Source has to be good enough to uncover all the ambient queues in the recording....a shyte CDP won't cut it. The Amp has to able relay this information as intact as possible. The speakers have to be good enough, so as not to mess with the info that is passed to them from the amp....and the Kef Uni-Q / Tannoy Dual Concentric help in this area. So the system is the delivery method, by which the Soundstage and Image are portrayed...but it is originally created, by the way it was recorded.

By Soundstage, I mean a system's ability to create a large 3D space, way beyond the boundry of the speakers.

By Image, I mean a system's ability to allow the listener to pinpoint individual instruments/sounds, within that 3D stage.

I went for it, Insider9 - thanks for bringing it to my attention. Taking delivery tomorrow. Having listened to both the Cambridge Audio CXA60 and CXA80, in my local Richer Sounds, I asked to listen to the Arcam A29. Needless to say, I preferred the Arcam. So, I'm hoping the A19 gets reasonable close. (I'd have gone for the 29, but just couldn't go the extra expense).

One problem, now: I don't have a source

Any recommendations for a half decent cd player, or streamer gratefully received.

Has anyone heard/owned the Onkyo CN7050. Not high quality enough, perhaps?

Or how about the Pioneer N30AE?

I listened to the Arcam CD/streamer CDS27 during my Richer Sounds visit - sounded really good, to me. Much more expensive, I know. Does anyone have any thoughts about this one?

Awesome, congratulations! I'm sure you're going to enjoy it. Don't think differences are that big and A19 and A29 will sound similar.

Digital sources don't have to be very expensive. So the real question is how much do you want to spend and what facilities do you need?

CD player wise second hand some classic models from Marantz or Arcam won't sound any worse than most dacs up to £400. If you want streaming the easiest way to do it is via Chomecast Audio £20 new (when on offer) it works via WiFi and works with a smartphone as a "remote". Many other alternatives.

I did look at the rplay, Cno, but the review, although excellent, mentions a 'confined sound', which doesn't sound promising (?)

Can you hear it for yourself?

I have generally found that the Arcam sound is worth hearing...and don't just home in on the negative...if WHF thought it was a serious flaw, it would have dropped a star. This product is at the more budget end of the market, so will have have flaws...as will any product at this price.

Remember, it's system synergy that counts.....and it might all work quite nicely.

You have a few alternatives depending on the priorities. I'd be looking at following.

Yamaha WXC-50 (£289)
Sonos Connect (£339)
Auralic Aries Mini (£449)
Bluesound Node 2 (£499)

I own the first one and to me it's the most complete product. The sound quality is superb and it can work as a dac. The other ones however can beat it when it comes to control app (not sure about Aries Mini). I have used Sonos Connect and even though the app is great, it doesn't sound as good as the Yamaha nor does it have half it's functionality.

I considered Bluesound Node 2 but ultimately it doesn't offer as much as the Yamaha even though the app and sound quality appear to be better. It does however cost nearly twice as much and lacks some functionality.
