Having auditioned MA speakers I can only suggest that you take a piece of piano music along with you. I've not heard one that can make a piano sound like a piano.
I doubt WHFI will do this!
Chris
I don't agree with this I have a lot of piano music and on one particular piece Beethoven Piano Concerto no 3 it seems like the piano is actually in my room when listening
It's possible that you are both right.......the same speakers can sound quite different depending on the room acoustics and the rest of the system.
Yup - I'm the perfect example. The RS6s and Leema sounds awesomely realistic.
My view is admittedly limited. I don't have the time to go around listening to lots of kit. All I know is that when I was auditioning I had come down to a choice between the KefQ500s and the MAs and I was actually leaning towards the MAs. I thought they were both great speakers, the Kefs more analytical which was great for music like solo lute, the MAs more intergrated which was great for rock music. I then took out my CD of Marta Agerich playing the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto 3 (which I had taken along as an afterthought) and listened to it on both. I was extremely surprised by the outcome because on the Kefs this famous live performance was conveyed perfectly but on the MAs the piano sounded odd. The guy doing the auditioning, who was incredibly patient, couldn't hear it.
This isn't very scientific, not double-blind or even single-blind, so maybe there was some expectation bias but I've owned both MA and Kef speakers in the past and think they are both top class manufacturers. CNo may be correct that on another day in another room I wouldn't have heard it but on the day I did.
