I have at the moment two set ups in different rooms using the above mention amp, with one room Mordaunt Short Alumni's and the other room Jamo's.

I have the chance to buy from a friend Monitor Audio's BR5 AV set, probably to replace the Alumni's.

I don't have the funds to upgrade amp (don't exactly have money for speakers either, but cracking deal) and was wondering is the yamaha capable of driving the speakers sufficiently well enough?

Many thanks,

LeahandAnna

It'll drive them no problem at all. The BR5 pack wil stand you an upgrade or two as well - I demonstrated them to a customer last week on the end of an SCLX82 amp, and they kicked!

Thanks David,

Was pretty sure the amp would drive them Ok, just wanted to get the advice of others. My friend actually says he will bring them round for me to demo. What a guy eh?

Hi leahandanna

I have sold quite a few DSP-AX763's with BR5 AV speakers. It is an excellent all round combination and one which you'll enjoy listening to for hours without fatigue. As i have said before Yamaha AV amps and Monitor Audio speakers make a great match (time after time).

All the best

Thanks Rick,

Done the deal with my friend, but won't be getting speakers until weekend. Look forward to hearing them in action.

Considering going the whole hogg and getting another pair of surrounds to go 7.1. What are your thoughts, and which speakers would give the best tonal match?

P.S. Got tickets and looking forward to Silverstone (MotoGP).

Assuming you have the BRFX surrounds, you could go for another pair of them for centre rears, or the recommended thing is to have direct firing speakers for centre rear, so the BR1's would be ideal.

Hi leahandanna

Your welcome.

If you can than try and get the same models as the rear left/right surrounds.

Great and please report back about your visit to the Moto GP at Silverstone.

All the best
