Monitor Audio Apex

Hi guys,

I just got an email back from MA saying that the APEX satellites are not magnetically shielded.

Should i be worried? I wa just about to purchase these speakers

As far as I know its only a problem if you are putting them next to an old CRT TV. LCDs/Plasmas are OK.

My Cousin has 5 of these next to a Panasonic 50G20 Plasma and I have not seen any of the usual discolouring or anything you would normaly relate to the magnet / speaker affecting the screen

That includes the Big Centre Speaker right above the screen

They sound good too !

Dont trust that 100% but its true

Hi gosalh

charlie_boy is right in that if you've got a CRT tv and are going to place them close to the screen then ideally the speakers need to be magnetically sheilded however for plasma/lcd/led televisions there is no need for magnetic sheilding.

Luckily i don't have an old CRT. I have an LCD.

In terms of the build and performance, hopefully these speakers aren't temperamental in general or too sensitive to their environment? I have nothing out of the ordinary in the room where they'll be setup.

Hmmmm, i'm confused. Looking at the Monitor Audio support FAQs page

"All of the Monitor Audio speaker ranges are magnetically shielded with only a few exceptions, the Silver RSFX, Bronze BRFX, all of the CP/ Custom Install products, all of the Platinum Series, and all of the subwoofers (except the Radius 360 & Radius 720). These are the only speakers that are not."

It really shouldn't matter to you whether they're magnetically shielded or not. Maybe the FAQs have not been updated since the launch of the Apex range, or you got the wrong information from MA. Why worry?

These speakers are superb in every respect. Audition it & see if you agree with the reviews.
