Just checked my emails and I've recieved a regular update from MA, including a new range of compact speakers called Apex. Has anyone heard of these and what are they like?
Have WHFI S&V requested a sample for testing yet?
Hi plastic penguin
The new Apex series of sub/sat speakers promises to be quite a step up from the already impressive Radius HD series. Mine have been on order for some time now so i should shortly be receiving the demo set in Piano Black finish.
Thanks

Thanks for that Rick. Clearly, they are so new they haven't hit anyones radar yet. When you receive them, could you keep us updated?
Much appreciated.
Hi plastic penguin
I received the new Apex 10, 40 and AW-12 speakers a few days ago in the stunning metallic black high gloss finish. Their build (heavy and rigid die-cast alloy cabinets), fit, finishing and styling are all superb.
Anyway i've finally had a chance to see what they perform like. The components used were Yamaha's BD-S1900 and Chord Electronics DSP8000/SPM3005.
The Apex's produce an overall excellent performance. A couple of aspects that particular stand out are the lack of colouration (no doubt due to the heavy die-cast cabinets) and the sound is also very evenly balanced. The fact they coped more than admirably with the sheer onslaught of the DSP8000/SPM3005 says alot IMO. Simply put as good as the Radius HD Series is the new Apex series is in a different league (but than again it does cost more). The new Apex Series was worth the wait and is sheer class.
All the best
