Modded DACs

Have any of you come across this fashion for "upgrading" DACs like this guy has done:

Seems a little unnecessary, and why is he doing this if selling for less than the new price anyway?

Looking at his other items, they have all been tweaked with upgraded components (well, that's the claim). I imagine he buys broken items and fixes them up, as a hobby/living.

This is not new, companies have been modifying DACs for many years. Just like modifying cdps.
