I have got an Onkyo 578 with MS Alumni 5.1. I am thinking about replacing the fronts with MS Aviano 1 because I am hoping this will give better music quality. I use PS3 for dvd & cd.

Will this will work? Is it possible to mix and match different speakers? Thanks. Shaun.

Personally I would take the money you intend to spend on replacement your front speakers, and get yourself a dedicated CD player. The improvements will be significant in audio quality over the PS3 you are using at the moment...and you will keep your matching AV speaker system...bonus !!

If you're going to replace the fronts I would replace centre at same time as having a matching centre speaker improves the integration of the sound in my experience. Rears are a lot less important. If you can't match, chose a speaker with same tweeter, if not with same manufacturer.

Thanks Ricardo. I have thought about dedicated cd player and that might do the trick. The MS Alumni speakers are on the small side however and that is why I was thinking of getting bigger speakers...

Thanks Angelface. I was hoping to match the Mordaunt Short Aviano fronts with my existing Alumni centre. How can I find out if they are compatible?
