Hi All,
I am in the process of setting up a Home Cinema room and I am looking at the B&W MT speakers system without the supplied B&W Subwoofer and getting a Veloydyne Subwoofer (SPL 800 R ) as an alternative

My question is does it really matter if all your speakers are not from the same manufacturer?

The AV Receiver I will be getting will be the Denon 2808 when it is finally launched.....

Hi there,

The subwoofer is the permissible exception to the rule that all speakers in a surround set-up should ideally come from the same manufacturer's range (so they have the same sonic signature).

The Velodyne would be better than the sub that comes as standard with the B&W MT-20 package, but is no match for the glorious B&W PV1 that comes with the MT-30s. There's hardly a surround package around that wouldn't sound better with the PV1 on board....

And I know what you mean re the Denon 2808 wait! Sadly we won't be able to run a test of that until mid-October.
