What you don't understand is corporate politics. Microsoft wants both formats to fail so they can be heroes and make the world move to digital downloads. That is the dirty secret no one is talking about. That is why Microsoft is handing out $100 million dollar checks to studios just embrace the HD DVD and not the leading, and superior Blu Ray. They want confusion in the market until they perfect the digital downloads. Time will tell and you will see the truth.

The format is only as good as the player it is played on, the only advantage with Blu Ray is the increased capacity.

I have both now and can't tell the difference.

I thought MS had denied making that payment and that it was made by the HD DVD consortium.

He goes on to say: "I know what the final product should look like - Blu Ray suits my films better." For me BD has an advantage over HD-DVD on sound.

Paramount cound not put a HD audio track on the Transformer movies due to capacity of disc. PCM and DTS HD MA are must haves for me.

There is 5 gig left on the disk ya know, total contents read at 25.5 gig! including some special features! put those special feature's on disk two and there plenty of room in fact there probably is room for true hd anyway with the features.

I think we're all missing the point here. i don't dispute that in the long run Microsoft feels that download content is the way forward, but every company feels the same. What is important is that it's not viable as yet!! how possibly could it take over from BLU-RAY/HD-DVD?! reading about Microsoft's new/current movie download service left me in no doubt that it's going to be a long time before it replaces the disc! Downloading 5/6 gigs worth for a hi def movie would take ages(would be quicker walking to the shops to buy or rent the movie!!) and as most people have download limits from their broadband provider wouldn't be able to download that many movies a month anyway! then there's the most important point which is quality. 720p not full 1080p and 5.1 instead of hd sound is hardly a threat to the true homecinema fans!! plus no extras which would certainly be on the discs!

i've got a PS3 and i'll be happy to stick with BLU-RAY for a while yet!!
