Hello All,

I have recently purchased a MF M2si and I'm very pleased with it. It is driving my Dali Oberon 1s extremely well. I am however looking to purchase some new speakers and I would appreciate your recommendations for some speakers to audition.

What I like about my current speakers are the tonality, imaging and soundstage. I do however want more scale whilst keeping these characteristics.

My listening space is 3m wide by 5m deep with lots of soft furnishings. My listening position is about 2m from the speakers.

I really can't bear overblown or boomy bass! I am willing to consider used speakers also, my budget is around £1000. A few options I have thought of so far are:

Dali Oberon 5
MA Silver 100
Dynaudio Emit 20
AE120 mk2

Your thoughts will be much appreciated!

Nick

Oberon 5 might be a bit too much, whereas the 3 is still a floorstander, so will sound bigger without risking the ‘ boom’ you don’t want.

A good list, all worth hearing, to which I’d add the Q Acoustics 5050 or 5040, rather than the more mellow 3050i which is probably too subdued with your furnishings.

Have you a friendly dealer who would let you try at home, or at least let you Terran anything that didn’t work ideally?

Thanks for your reply!

I have got a Richer Sounds about an hour from me so I could probably arrange a few demos in advance. There is a local dealer in my town but they only have a limited range (mainly AE within my budget).

I hadn't considered the 5040s but I will try to have a listen for sure.

I don't think my amp will be a limiting factor for most speakers at this price range as it really gives the Dalis a kick up the proverbial!
