Hi, having bought the amazing Meridian Ferrari F80, based on your reviews, I I am wondering, in a blindfold test, what on earth would match it based on a separates system. In all the auditions I have heard, nothing comes close to the amazing sound of the F80. By the way, one of the hot topics on the forum is "were to put the hi fi", - well if you buy an F80 you dont need to worry!

Totally agree, i used to own an F80 and it is amazing.

Do yourself a favour and buy some top quality speaker stands. I was using mine with Partington Broadside filled with atabites and it really made it sing!

Regards Danny

I would have one by now if it had the necessary digital connectivity that I need and...

(a) Did not have half ar hearted DVD replay.

Or...

(b) Did have excellent DVD and BluRay replay with HDMI.

The time I heard one - it had accidently been sent to my local John Lewis instead of the larger branch 25 miles away - it sounded amazing even from a counter in a large open area. We moved it to a coffee table surrounded by a three piece suite (near a mains socket) in the furniture department a few metres away from the electrical department and sat down to listen and it was even better.

It was a very close-run thing. I almost bought one.

Unfortunately the new M80 version has not improved the digital connectivity and it still has no HDMI or BluRay (or better still, dropped DVD and come down in price a bit.)

I traded my F80 im for a traditional hi-fi set-up and took a somewhat sideway's step!

My dealer kindly allowed me a home demo with the F80 a few months ago and i connected the digital out from my Sneaky DS to the F80 then used the Analogue out's from my Sneaky into the digital in on the F80 and to my suprise the F80's dac sounded so much better!

It also seemed to sound superiour than cd playback on the F80 streaming from the Sneaky with the F80 having less work to do.

(sorry to hijack this thread)

regards Danny

By the way you could buy a cheapish blu-ray player then connect to the F80 and use the F80's dac!

yes, the outdated connectivity worried me at first, but bought in the end as really am buying it as HIFI not video, HOWEVER have put thirty albums in mp3 on ONE dvd (dont put in any folders just list the lot) and I have days of music on one disc!! so long as you dont disconnect the mains, you just take off where you last were listening....a great use of the dvd drive.
