Hi there can anybody tell me where i can go to view and find out more about "Media Servers" that you can store/play all your dvd movies and all your music on to/from hard drives so you dont have to worry about your dvds or cds getting scratched ?

Any help on this matter would be great

Thank You For Your Time

Kind Regards

A standard PC (even one years old) is all you need really. There is loads of software that will backup / play DVD / CD very quickly. You can get away with about 1.6 processor, 512Mb ram, but get a decent video card (256Mb+) and sound card. Hook it up with a projector an you are away. Hard drive space is cheap enough these days to store loads of stuff - even full dvds!

I use Twonky as my media server (Yamaha RX-N600D as the media player), It supports a wide range of media players, and is resonable priced (about £20).

Hi Clare, I contacted Kaliedescape the system looked great but £12,000 is abit too expensive.
Id rather not use a computer based kit.
The system i need is something that can store/ play over 500 dvds (R1, R2 & HD) and 80GB of music and is compatible with my Bose Lifestyle surround sound system.

Another option i may have is my Pioneer DVR-940HX-S Dvd Recorder with 500GB HDD.
The manual states the HDD can only store 999 albums and the rest of the HDD is for movies and pictures but the dvd recorder has a connection for a external HDD, can you tell me if i can store my dvds/ music on a external HDD and play them through the dvd recorder ??

Thank you for your time
Kind Regards
Nippa
