Matthew you are an advocate of the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 .....

I have a side project on the go and since I no longer can audition The WD 9.1's I was wondering what you thought the match would be like with The Fatman Itube.......

I think I rememeber you saying the midrange was superb.....

Hi.

The Wharfedales are excellent speakers. They have a lovely sense of 3 dimensionality with excellent soundstaging from front to back and side to side. The midrange is wonderful - actually much better than many more expensive speakers I've listened to - and the integration between the bass/mid and treble drive units is seamless. IMO they are the most complete budget standmount of all.

I've not heard a fatman so it is very difficult for me to say how the two would pair together. The Diamonds aren't particularly difficult to drive and they like a neutral to warm amp rather than a bright one. I've also found they benefit from bi-wiring, which really brings the best out in them.
