Hi folks,

I'm currently using a Sony ta-fb 930 with Kef IQ5SE speakers. Any ideas of which sub I should go for and how I should wire it, considering it's only a stero amp? http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3866636111.pdf

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

I currently have the speakers bi-wired. I was thinking of getting an active sub and using the tape out.

Should I be going about this differently?

Thanks!

You can't use the tape out. You have to use an output that varies with the volume, like a pre out or sub out, and your amp has neither so you have to connect to the speaker output.

Any sub with high level inputs would work. BK are good value. http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers.htm

You can connect to the speakers that way.

+1

Have previously had the BK Monolith + in my AV setup and they are very impressive for the money.

on the BK subs - to connct the high level cable, there are 3 bare wires that connect to 3 of the 4 speaker terminal output posts on the back of the amp. I have my speakers connected with banana connections and the bare wires wrapped around the same posts - it is that simple.

Should I use the A output for the Kefs and bridge at the speaker end and use B for the sub out? Is a passive sub a better option? Apologies for my ignorance on the matter, I'm just wary of power/impedance issues. Thanks for the help so far, it's much appreciated!
