Anyone heard this album yet? What you think? Im a big fan of their previous work and although as a whole the album is not as good as their early stuff, there are some corkers on here! You should definatly listen to Paradise Circus (vocals from the woman from mazzy star).

It should be coming any day from play.com. I'll let you know then! I did receive my copy of Hot Chip's new offering this morning, and from what I heard so far it sounds pretty good.

Cool! Im listening off spotify at the moment. This album makes me wish i had a really good subwoofer!

I've not heard this yet - is Mezzanine still their peak?

I don't think Massive Attack will ever produce an album of that quality again

I agree the new album is superb. I listened to it last night and we have had it on a couple of times today in the shop. In a similar vein to 100th window and crying out for a speaker that can handle the bass.

I think it's one of those rare occasions where the album gets better towards the end. Paradise Circus onwards is superb and the last track Atlas Air is my favourite. Still not sure about the Guy Garvey track in the middle though.

I've got it on pre-order,yup double 180gm vinyl with the ceedee frisser chucked in 30 squid. Released towards the end of the month.

Only listened to a couple of times on the ipod, but I echo the previous comments - not sure if it's up there as an album in its entirety, but some superb tracks, and the "lesser" tracks certainly are growing on me.

Hits: Babel, Paradise Circus, Atlas Air + Girl I Love You

Misses: The rest.

They have a lot to live up to however.

Agree with Daveh75, the more you listen, the better it gets - a real grower. Starting to really love it.

IMHO, it's not better or worse than Mezzanine, just different - similar to comparing Bowie's Low & Heroes - Heligoland is more multi-layered & multi-textural, & slightly disjointed in parts. And wow, what a stunning production/mix/sound.

Saw them at Hammersmith last night - awesome. God I hate them - talented, cool, witty AND full of humility! Was a nice touch to dedicate Unfinished Symphony to Alexander McQueen. Martine, Horace et al were also all in fine form + Damon Albarn was a guest vocalist for his Heligoland stuff. Of Heligoland's tracks, the 11min version of Atlas Air was particularly epic & hypnotic - extra guitar power chords & a very rousing/driving multi-instumental, mid-point crescendo. And 10/10 to the lady who threw a shot of water at the noisy, bumptious gnome who wouldn't stop talking.

[EDIT]: Atlas Air, Hammersmith 11/02/2010 (not my clip, sound is a bit 'thin' & ignore the jabbering tw*ts at the start):

What a great year for new releases: Heligoland, Bowie's A Reality Tour & on Monday Peter Gabriel's Scratch My Back arrives. In this era of Simon Cowell-produced tat, Messrs Marshall, Del Naja, Bowie & Gabriel actually make you feel proud to be British.

Well it arrived on my doormat this morning and I have just had my first listen. I really like it, some of it is "Massive Attacky" as I would expect, but then theres also some tracks that sound like Radiohead's In Rainbows.

Sounds rather nice on my Naim Kit too. Blinkin wish I had the time/money to replace my B&W DM603s3's with something more appropriate. Going to have to get to the Neat and Rega rooms at the Bristol show to see whats what.
