Been a long time fan of Marantz AV gear, and was planning on getting a BD5004 at a good price recently. Fortunately Denon announced their new models in the US a while back and that stopped me in my tracks, with the inclusion of SACD/DVDA, 3D and DLNA all at the same price as the outgoing models.

So in full anticipation that Marantz would shortly announce almost identical clones, I've not been disappointed. The UD5005, looks to me to be my ideal first foray into BluRay, but I'm impatient to learn a few further details.

1. Is there a USB port to the rear?

2. What are the audio and video formats supported via USB and DLNA?

1. Not sure. There's certainly one on the front, but we don't have any rear shots, and as you'll have read the samples were held up in customs so we couldn't take a look.

2. Audio MP3/WAV/WMA/AAC; Video MPG/Divx/WMV/H.264; Photo JPG

video looks good, I was worried FLAC wasn't going to be supported on the audio side. I was hoping given that the network specific unit will support flac.

thanks for the quick response, and looking forward to your review.

Finally, can we assume that all the mainstream products will be available in both black and silver/gold. Last year Marantz there were a few products only available in black!! Not good if everything you've bought is silver!

All the separates are certainly in black and Marantz silver/champagne.

The one-box Blu-ray system is black only, however.

at last not one but two universal disc players. at more affordable prices, lets hope arcam can come up trumps as well, and next time pioneer too.
