I am not sure what to do.

Iam looking for a Marantz ( i have been a Marantz fan since i was a teenager) that will allow me to connect al my equipments (1 Sat. Receiver, 1Xbox, 1 PS3, 1 ATV, NAS with my entire music collection, 1Turntable, 1 yamaha sub and very important allow me to use Spotify).

Should I wait for Marantz to release their new equipments that were annouced last week which probably will be Spotify compatible? Or Should i just get the Marantz SR7005 that was released last August 10? In what concern the speakers was planning to acquire Tannoy Mercury V4.

I am looking for a system with excellent sound, nothing as a 7.1 but rather a 2.1 I do prefer an amazing stereo sound quality instead of having 5 or 7 sattelites spreaded all accross the room wich is not big at all to accomodate them. What do yo advise?

Regards,

If you don't intend going for 5.1 or 7.1, why look at an AV Receiver with amplification for channels you won't use? Surely you would be better off investing in a decent stereo amp and perhaps some floorstanders to handle bass. You can easily accommodate 5.1 speakers in a small room so I don't know where you got this idea. If you watch a lot of movies and play a lot of modern games, I would suggest demo'ing a decent 5.1 setup as you will soon appreciate that these additional channels envelop you in sound and add to the overall movie experience. Stereo and 2.1 are fine for music but you would be missing out on an awful lot by not going for full surround sound. You can get small compact speakers for rears or look at in-ceiling. Cables can be run around the room behind skirtings or under carpet using flat cable e.g. Ixos 233. Alternatively check out d-line conduit which is sold in B&Q that can hide cables and be painted over. Their site gives you an idea of what you can achieve.

As for whether you should wait for next year's model or go for this year's one, only you can answer. However, if you are always looking at what next year's model will bring, you will never buy anything. Just ask ranakirti who still hasn't bought a new receiver!
