I'm very pleased with my current home cinema, albeit it's at the cheaper end of the scale. Everything, including hi-fi in my sig has been bought in the last 9 months so it's been quite an expensive time. I love the Marantz looks and operation but have wonder if something further up the Marantz ladder from my NR1501 may improve things further. This might then pave the way for new speakers in the next year or so. The BD5004 is staying, I love it !! Because I don't want to go full out with my spending yet I've been thinking about the Marantz SR6003. What are peoples thoughts on this proposal. I had originally thought of the SR6004 but could potentially save myself £200 going for the older model.

Unless you've got some particular issues I'm not sure you'd get that much from this upgrade. The 1501 / 1601 are supposed to be very good, though I haven't heard them.

Marantz seemed to have turned a corner for cinema with the 05 models, and I'd maybe wait for those to come doen in price as they have the latest inputs and so on also.

I used to have an SR6001 which was £700 and am finding the Denon AVR1911 to be its equal. Things moved on a bit with the 6003 but that's now two iterations ago and I think you could maybe get better for cheaper with the newer amps, especially if you wait a bit.

Cheers
I should try and enjoy what I've got for now.
Everytime my subscription copy comes through the door I get twitchy about changing something. I'll be alright in a week or so.

Are you after better Surround or Stereo?

I have a 6003 and some MA6100 mono power amps to bi-amp my stereo pair, both the surround experience and Stereo from the setup is fantastic I would definitely recommend listening to one if you are set on changing your amp, I am not sure however it would be a step change from your current amp, but the extra power may give a bit more control, it is a real shame that the NR range do not have a Pre Out or you could have just slotted in a power amp for the front speakers.

If it were me I would enjoy the system for a while save the pennies and look at some of the Other Marantz range when they come down in price the 7005 looks stunning.
