Hiya Folks, I'd appreciate any opinions on my final choice of a new amp. I've whittled it down to these two. I have been demoing the 8300a and I have been impressed. I currently have the PM6006 which I really like. Would I notice a step up to the PM8006 which would be a fairer comparison to the 8300a.

Many thanks for taking the time to respond.

They are pretty evenly matched really and depends whether you prefer Marantz HDAM technology or prefer the dual mono topography of the Audiolab.
Also you may consider the very different looks of these amplifiers if that means anything to you.
Me, I would take the Marantz but only because I have had plenty of their stuff in the past.

Hi AI ears, I would be pairing it directly with the Cd6006 and the NA6006, replacing the PM6006. After demoing the 8300a along with the 8300cdq I'm really not that bothered about upgrading my cd6006 for the sake of. I think it is actually pretty good.

Cheers

Understand, an all Marantz system is not a bad thing although I am sure the Audiolab would fit in well, I guess you pay your money and make your choice.....

Pick up a nice secondhand SA8005 for CD and SACD playback. They dropped the SACD capability on the newer model release.

Hi folks, after all the demos finally went with my gut and first instinct after weeks of research and couldn't be happier. Went all in on the Cambridge Audio. Looks are beautiful (IMHO) and really feels a quality product. Had some initial listening and Wow! Will need to come back to you after a week or two.

All the best

This is an interesting thread, although It seems to be "sorted" already, I'm also in the exact same position, choosing between the PM8006 and the 8300a to replace my PM6006.

I do, however, have the NA6006 as the companion. Speakers are the Triangle BOREA BR03, which are very warm in sound with the PM6006 and my thought would be that the more neutral 8300a might be a better match than the Marantz?

Any takers, on advice?
(I have not auditioned any of the amps. Covid-19 has made some products rather inaccessible in my home town...)

Many thanks in advance!
