When can we expect a review of the Marantz PM6005 amp in What Hifi ?

I'm curious if this sounds a little better than the PM6004................. 😉

Yeah, something I'd like to know too, as it's on my shortlist 🙂

i assumed it was the same as the 6004 but with a DAC added, so should sound the exactly the same, perhaps the review of the PM6004 covers it then

In the latest Hi-Fi Choice issue there is a full review of both the PM6005 and CD6005. Both awarded 5 stars, and received a glowing review. In the overall summary at the end, the only slight "dislike" were the apparent flimsy speaker binding posts on the amp.

.

Hi all. I'm pleased to announce we have a PM6005 in the building and a review will be appearing in the April issue of the magazine, out 12th March...

The marantz pm6005 got ,no I dont wanna ruin the suspense 🙂 I think I buy harman kardon hk3770 instead becouse it also got subwoofer-out and looks just as nice as the marantz.

Here is review in german  :

PM 6004>>> http://www.audio.de/news/gewinner-

der-audio-leserwahl-2013-1479859.html

Platz 1: Marantz PM 6004 (34 %, Test in AUDIO 02/12)

Seinen sehr günstigen Preis von 450 Euro sieht man dem PM 6004 nicht an.

Die Frontplatte besteht, wie auch die beiden Drehknöpfe

für Lautstärke- und Quellenwahl, aus Metall.

Platz 2: Denon PMA-720 AE (27,4 %, Test in AUDIO 09/12)

Platz 3: Pioneer A-30 (23,3 %, Test in AUDIO 09/12)

Got this amp last week to effectively add the built-in DAC to my PM6003.

It is... Wonderful. Finally, after trying many DACs, the 6005 betters the SB Touch's own DAC by some margin.

Plus the bonus optical in for my TV.

Happy.

always liked the marantz house sound, it must be the midrange

seems like the rotel RA10 will get knocked to second for best budget amp

the rotel is a nice amp too, I heard it being demoed in superfi in manchester to a customer, the source was some music server, the speakes MA BX5, it did sound,....to use use that cliche......musical, not immediatley thrilling though ,

Funny thing, in the review they mention the good build quality. I thought it was a bit...tacky. Having said that, I notice that a lot of present day 'stuff' isn't built that great...

I would still rather have the Rotel.

I haven't heard the rotel 10, so I can't compare on quality, but the more diect comparison with the Marantz pm6005 would be the rotel ra11, as that has digital inputs and a remote. There is then a price issue, as the Marantz is £300, the Rotel £500.

Well, it depends whether you want the very best sound for the money or very good sound with features. The Rotel exerts more control over speakers than the Marantz. In my book this makes it better at its core job. I also find the build more reassuring. If going up in price I'd still choose sound over features and buy the Exposure that I've got. The features can always be added using an external DAC if required.

It's just a personal preference.

Rotel amps sound a bit clinical IMO. It may control your speakers better but that is not the only thing that matters.

Great review of the PM6005 though. Have to check it out I quess.

Next month the Monitor Audio Airstream A100 will be released.

Very curious about that one 🙂

Not to speak about beauty, build and look, can we say that Marantz 6004/5

will sound more warm, less fatiguing than equivalent-priced Rotel amps

and that are better pairing with bright speaker like Klipsch and some B&W...?

i heard marantz gels very good with kef speakers, I do prefer the marantz sound over rotel, more liquid, however i dont think one is better than the other , just different presentations. both have similar toriod power units, the marantzs has a little more power on written specs,
