Marantz PM6002 to PM7001 upgrade. Worth it?

I currently have a Marantz PM6002/CD6002 combination going through my Quad 12L2's.

I am happy with this combination playing mainly rock, folk and roots style music.

However, I've been offered a PM7001 amp at a decent price. Would any of you good people have experience of whether there would be a noticeable improvement in performance with this upgrade?

Thanks in advance.

You'll probably find it to be a worthwhile upgrade, dependent of course on how good that price is. Only your comment "I am happy with this combination" gives me pause for thought.

The PM7001 is a nicely detailed amp without being over bright, but I dont know how it compares with the PM6002 as I have never heard it. Its just as good as the NAD c352 which I aslo have but with a different presentation . I think I prefere the Marantz but it' s a close call.

I have the Ki version of 7001 and it's a great amp! I am sure the regular 7001 is no slouch either. It's got quite a bit more power than 6002 so may drive your Quads better. At the end of the day price/performance trade off is something only you can judge though.ÿ
