Luckily for me, after changing jobs I’ve now got much more free time and I’m using it wisely listening to music and reading .
I am finding myself using the CD player and turntable quite a lot, and in recent weeks seem to have a strange sensation that the inbuilt phono stage is just not performing consistently. Some days I seem to have a recessed sound, rolled off treble. Muddy midrange and low plodding bass. Then other days it’s really bright and engaging.
Seems quite strange. Not sure if it’s vinyl specific, or is just needing time to warm up, or something else?
Got me puzzled.
This evening, I listened to several CDs then put a record on, it didn’t have the dynamics of cd and sounded quite flat, I put another album on, and that was the same, then part way through the second track you could tell something had changed, it was gradual, but by the third track all the dynamic range was there!
