Marantz NR1602

Hi, does anyone know if the Marantz NR1602 AV receiver can be used in a 4.1 surround sound set up where the front L+R are active? That is, the front L+R pre-outs connected to active speakers and passive speakers connected to the rear L+R speaker terminals?

It's on sale in various places at the moment for £380 and looks like a good option for surround sound with front actives. Most other amps with pre-outs are 1) expensive and 2) huge!
