I must admit on my nr1200 when I changed from my nad amp into the same speakers, I realised that I was regularly listening at 60% of the volume.
Never really turned my nad amp much above 40.
Yes, that’s what I’d expect. Modern ‘digital’ volume controls don’t give most of their output with only one-third rotation. That was usually designed in to get loud super quickly, giving the impression the amp was powerful. Newer designs are much more controllable, but can give the impression not much is happening, as above.
Rather like a cheap supermini car that has a very quick accelerator action, so you think it’s responsive. Then when you use more pedal you realise you were already pretty much flat out!
