Hello, everyone.

I will have some spare change after the (imminent) purchase of my loudspeakers, and wondered if my old clanger of a CD player should be upgraded to a CD5001 (amp is RA-04, loudspeakers are to be MA RS1s). Is it worth it?

Many thanks.

hi zimble, what cd player are you using at the moment ? if you can strech the spare change i think you should step up to the CD6002 price 270 sterling, your amp and speakers are too good for CD5001

Hi, Marvsins.

You really do not want to know -- it is some approximately-seventeen-year-old Japanese CD changer. It is utter rubbish and needs replacing.

Thank you for your suggestion about the CD6002. I did have a look at it on Marantz's website, and have heard favourable things about it. However, it is a bit too much for my "spare change". I do think that, perhaps, I should wait a while and purchase a CA Azur 640C V2; this player receives excellent reviews.

All I really needed to know was if the CD5001 would be worth the expense for the system, and you have answered that - thank you.
