Hello I would like to know if a Marantz 6007 CD player is compatible with an old Quad 306 power amp/34 pre amp, thanks in advance for any help/advice

Almost all source components (including CD players I've ever heard of) operate at what's called line level, so I can't imagine you'll have any issues. Its really only record players that tend to need additional amplification. Plug it all in, turn the volume right down, switch everything on and then gradually increase the volume.

By the time the 33 preamp was replaced by the 34 preamp, CD players were commonplace, so it had a dedicated CD input, and will therefore be fine with your Marantz. (Before then, the high 2 volt output could overload the 33 Model, so many folks had them modified or fitted attenuators).

I believe earlier 34s had DIN inputs, whereas later ones had RCA phono sockets. If you have the former you’ll need a two phono to 5 pin DIN adapter.
