Hi,

I've just bought a Marantz PM6003 Amp and CD6003 CD player and I'd like to connect my Ipod to the system

Can anyone suggest the best way of doing this (through the amp or USB port on the CD player) to maintain a good sound quality?

Thanks

Do you have a particular budget in mind??

I would look into getting a dock to connect it to the amp. That way you will keep the iPod charged and some come with remotes as well......

Messiah is correct however I would recommend connecting to the USB port on the CD6003 rather than the amp and then press the 'Disc Media/USB button.' This way you'll be able to see the track names etc.on the display and use the remote as well to change tracks.

Ah, was not aware the iPod would work via the USB port.

Good suggestion....

Thanks - any idea where I can pick up a quality USB Ipod cable?

Hi mark,

At first i was using my white apple usb cable plugged into the CDP and it did sound good. Though I have now bought an arcam IRDock, which connects to the amp. this has a remote to control the ipod's menus fully, though you do have to be close to see the screen(ipod classic).

I think the sound is slightly better through the dock, once again Im using chord crimson interconnects between the two. The only slightly annoying thing is that you dont see the track names on the CDP screen, though I did know this before i bought it.

For me personally that's very important especially in this day & age.

Hi everyone,

Apologies for a late bumping but could I just get clarification on something.

I have the same amp and CD as the OP and am also considering buying the an arcam irdock. Would there be any way I could connect the dock to the CD player so that the songs show up on the screen? If so what cable do I need?

If this dock doesn't support such a feature is there any that do for less than £150.

Thanks for all your help, sorry if it's a bit of a stupid question I'm still quite new to all this.
