Making pictures fit onto the forum

How do you resize pictures to fit onto the forum? I know you want them 400x400. When you see a picture size on the properties tab, and it states 500x350 pixels, which one is the width and which one the height?

I think it is width x height.

To resize them, when you post a picture the 'insert image' tab lists the current dimensions of the image pasted into the link box. Just reduce these to fit. (Try and keep the ratio the same.)

Reduced from 1024x768 pixels. Thanks Messiah and Andrew. By the way, I did not have to copy and paste the dimensions, they just appeared in the size boxes when I clicked into them.
