I'm buying a second hand Linn Axis and I've been reading of how their power supply can burn out because of mains surges. Anyone know anything about this and if a power conditioner/surge protector would be recommended here?

The main circuit boards for these have long been unavailable from stock (well over 10 years), so servicing is going to be limited. I think I remember another item for it was now unavailable, which may possibly have been the transformer, I can't remember. It's worth getting in touch with Linn and finding out the extent of available servicing.
