I can imagine some people cringing at the thought of using mains cable to connect loudspeakers. I do recall an article in a hifi mag in the late 80s (may have been WHFi but can't remember) where 5 cables were tested/compared. 4 of the cables were recognised speaker cables, the fifth was mains cable. The results showed that the mains cable performed better than 2 of them.

I don't use mains cable now for the speakers but did for many years, so I can only say that it will work just fine. As regards what speaker cable it could be compared to, I've got no idea.

Id expect it to perform pretty well. Cant really compare myself as ive never tried, but ive read of many people using it

It certainly wouldnt be as good as van damme UP LC-OFC which I always recommend for budget cable mind

First did it in the late 70's to replace a broken cable. Sounded better as well.

So works well imho, can be stiff compared to speaker cable so harder to bend around corners etc.

hi

thanks for all your replies guys

i laid it all out yesterday and connected everything, it is quite an upgrade compared to the 79 strand ofc stuff i was using and im not worried about the flexability issue as all the cables are tiddied nicely in trunking around the skirting bourds so i think i will have a listen over the next couple of weeks see how things pan out, at the moment i dont have 5pound a metrewhich i would like to spend on about 25 meters of good quality stuff, but fidly connections and flexibility aside higher highs and lower lows in my opinion.

thanks again
