I've been driving myself potty trying to find a source of these things (mains adapters with screw lugs) - has anyone got an idea of where they can be sourced?

Many have 'keyholes' on the back so they can be hung up.
Perhaps the fact that screwing them to a wall makes them permanent is enough to fail some regulation?

I was wondering if that might be the case - another one to blame on EU, eh?! ;-)

so I think what I'll do is just work out where I can drill through the whole thing....

here's a link to something similar to what you want:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brennenstuhl-1391003016-Premium-Alu-Line-extension-socket/dp/B00HW0AQAK/ref=pd_sim_sbs_23_9?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7BFB5R5T8G8KB3T8AF5D

there may be others but I'm at work so it was only a quick search.

Thanks all, but it's very hard to tell from the poor quality pictures how the wallmounting works. I think I may investigate plan B.

the extension socket I posted in my link (although it cost me alot more than £20) and the wall mount is at the right end of the extension as shown in the picture.

But that looks like just some kind of hanger - like they use in shops when selling blister-pack items. I'd want securing at both ends - this is to be mounted on the underside of a shelf in a "media cupboard"

They also have tabs on the lower surface of the end-plate with screw-holes.

that the extension I have is mounted vertically on a wall behind one of my hifi equipment racks, fully loaded with the weight of 4 "audiophile" mains cables & plugs and two "mains" filters and so far it hasn't fallen down, the "hanger" is stronger than it looks.

OK, so it arrived. Blimey - they're big!

But the great news is that the construction is essentially an aluminium u-shaped extrusion into which the plastic gubbins slides - with a fair amount of clearance, so I was able to take the guts out, screw the extrusion section into my media box and then slide the guts back in. Perfect!

Hopefully you can see the big german 6-way and my little 4-way both mounted to the underside of the shelf of the box. I've rotated the picture, as the whole thing's currently standing on its edge in the garage.

So thanks for the suggestion.
