Macbook Air for in car entertainment

Hi I dont know if it would work but could a Mackbook Air 256G be used like an ipod in the car I have an Aux input and an ipod dock usb . I am using an ipod 160G for my music(lossless) and an ipod touch for the good ladies music but its a bit of a faff to swop between them unles I used blu tooth but that meens the phone has to be disconnected thanks for any help*drinks*

you could, but given it's a full laptop there's no easy way to mount it or actually use it when you are in the car, so with my boring safety hat on I'd say don't even bother. Otherwise you'd have to mount in the back and then have some kind of control device, by which time you may aswell have just bought an idevice that's deisgned for such purposes in the first place.

Would it be possible to use a usb hard drive ? I have an ipod usb and a 12v supply

When my parents go on long cruises they take a 1tb wifi hard drive. You could leave one in the glove box. Works fine with iPads and iPhones etc.
