Question:Q:Audio from USB/ Headphone

Hi there,

I have a Mac mini that I’m using for my music storage with iTunes.
I have it connected to my stereo amp via the headphone output into the optical input of the amp.

My question is - can I also use the USB of the Mac for audio output at the same time?
I would like to connect it to my AV receiver using an AudioQuest Dragonfly.

I don’t want to have to change the audio output in System Preferences each time I either use the Stereo amp and AV receiver.

Thank, Steve.

Get a Pro Music Interface with the number of outputs you require, as you will find them to be much better than Hi-Fi DACs when it comes to computers. (Pop into your local music store or online shop)

Yes you can set up a Multi Output Device that includes both at the same time. Launch the Audio MIDI Setup app and then click on the plus in the bottom left corner, it should be straight forward from there to add both outputs. Enjoy.
