It's not ALL women, you know - my engagement ring, which I wear with pride every day, is a one-off silver creation I fell in love with in a surf shop in Cornwall. We'd done the whole trying-on-in-Tiffanys stuff, but it all felt too over-obvious. I encouraged him to spend the money on a new AV amp instead....

And he's going "b-gger, I only came in for some trunks".

Frog, she did actually threaten Legal action (which only
makes the heist that much sweeter) however in the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region, which is the special legal jurisdiction we both live under, the ring
would remain my legal possession as purchaser and holder of the receipts until
I a.) Sold her the ring or b.) Legally assigned ownership to her.

Being caught up in the whole romance of the moment when I
gave her the ring I forgot to draw up legal papers or sell her the ring and
thus am entitled to the return of my property. She could have had a case had I
taken possession of the ring from her flat (which is technically burglary even
with my own goods) but unfortunately for
her she voluntarily gave the ring to an intermediary (albeit by deception which
again isn't illegal as there was no transaction).

Also, as I am also the designer of the ring, I own both the Intellectual
Property and arguably the prototype design (I only got round to making the one)
of the ring.

I could argue the moral obligations and commitments that an engagement
ring signifies but I'd rather just stand behind the excellent Chinese legal
system.

I'm off to test drive a pair of ProAc Response D Two armed
only with 'the queen is dead' and 'insomnia'

At the very least I would delete parts of your posts....[/quote]

Well he can't now can he, because you (and now I) quoted him hehe. I don't think he has to worry though, especially if he has receipts for it.

So we remain factual at all times I should just clarify that
the legal system in Hong Kong is still a mix of HK previously being a constitutional monarchy
under British rule with a separate independent justice system mixed with a small amount of the modern day Chinese
legal system, the biggest change since the handover is that barristers who had
been appointed Queen's Counsel are now known as Senior Counsel.

It's widely respected as being one of the fairest in the
world and has more checks and balances than most legal systems; I have no experience
of the Chinese legal system in the mainland but in accordance with the
"One Country, Two Systems" principle agreed between the UK and the China,
the socialist system of China won't be practiced in the Hong Kong, and our
previous capitalist system and its way of life will remain unchanged until 2047
when the Sino-British Joint Declaration ceases to be in force.

And track 9 is indeed a life affirming Ballard of hope, not
a drone or angry word in sight.

And if anybody cares, the ProAc's went off, definitely on
the short list.

Elizabeth I, Mary, Victoria, Adelaide, to name but a few - all very much royal clogs popped.

Seems to be on pretty safe ground to me...

Yet to me he's our foremost Pop Laureate. It's certainly a heady mix of Sino-Anglo-Mozzer-baiting-Tibetan wrangling. Just what the herbal doctor ordered to clear my sinuses and synapses on this heavy-lidded, half-hearted half-term day.
