looking to upgrade

i am looking to upgrade my current mini hi-fi to a cambridge audio topaz am1 / am5 with cambridge audio topaz cd5 cd player . will my tannoy mercury m2's sound ok with this combination ??

That's hard to say.
Best thing you can do is to buy the amp + cd-player at a place where you can return it, for example within 7 days.
Then you can try it out at home and get a refund if it's not the right setup for you.
