looking for projector with same picture quality as my 50 inch plasma tv?

hi, looking at a projector but not sure which one will be suitable.i wii be about 12 foot from screen is this an issue with the bigger screen size compared to my 50 inch plasma?i am looking to spend around the£1000 mark any advice appreciated.

you don't say if your display is 1080p or not but would start with the optoma hd20 and the sanyo plvz700 - 12ft should get you somewhere between an 84 and 100 inch image

i have the hd20 - some image pics in topic abve that just took to show colours - taken off a 106inch screen, think thats about the 4m mark perhaps just a bit over - and bit of extra info

When you say you want the same picture quality, it depends on which elements of the picture you're looking to match.

For a 12" screen, to match sharpness you'd need to be looking in the £2,000-3,000 price point. For black levels and contrast ration you'd be looking about the same, but you'd need to have a fully blackened room with dark walls/floor/ceiling - ifny of these are white, these elements will be compromised.

Regardless of picture quality, LCD's and plasmas can't match the cinematic feel of a projector.
