looking for new amplifier and speakers

I'm looking for new bookshelf speakers and amplifier around 700 euros, with high quality audio for electronic and rock music.

I will connect the them to an asus xonar essence stx sound card (pc).

OD, they're not even out yet and there may be no stockists where the OP lives. Besides, there are better specced speakers for the money.

Active isn't a bad idea, head down to a pro shop and listen to some Adam Audio, Genelec, KRK etc.

If he lives in one of about four locations in the UK. Assuming he lives in the UK that is.

To the OP, actives may well be a good solution and there's a decent selection for your price range. Genelec, barring it's 6010a which may not be sufficient for your needs at 20w per driver, are outwith your price range, at new price anyway.

That said, Yamaha, KRK, Tannoy, etc, all make actives that fall in your budget. A few others too. Seek out your nearest pro audio store and they'll demo there and then.

I live in greece, what do you think about Behringer is it a good brand?

Active speakers have the amplifiers built-in, so you can connect them direct to a computer using the computer to control the volume. They tend mostly to be professional studio monitors.

I don't know Behringer, but good brands I've heard are Dynaudio, Adam Audio, Genecel and KrK. If it's possible and you have a shop nearby you should audition.

It is a perfectly decent budget brand, but with your budget you could do better.

The Adam A5x should be within budget and are a fine example at this level. Your soundcard is fine too, all that you need to do is make sure the speakers are properly mounted, this means decent stands. If stands are not possible then the smaller A3x may well be a better bet.

If you like listening to electronic and rock music you'd probably be best with some speakers that can produce deep bass. My advice is that you should go to both a hifi shop for conventional speakers and a pro-audio shop for active speakers (which I think sound better) and have a listen for yourself.

I agree it's a bit big for most peoples desks. I'm suprised they don't make a smaller version with a 5.25" woofer as well.
