On the market for a universal control. and this one seems to be fit the bill. So for those with experience with it what are your views fellas/ladies?

Indispensable. Although it doesn't actually do anything sound/vision wise, I'd have to say that it's my best bit of kit, allowing everyone in the family to enjoy the system. Without it, I'm sure there'd be complaints about all the irritating and expensive boxes

Same opinion here.
Saves having to use each of the 4 system remotes. With one touch we switch tv, amp and skyhd on.
It doesn't actually do anything sound and vision wise = no enhancement to picture or sound.
Great piece of kit.

Yep, absolutely fantastic. I have mine controlling 12 devices and haven't used any of the original remotes since. In fact I'm not even sure where they are - previous universal remotes I've found you had to keepthe originals on hand because there was always one niggly thing the universal wouldn't do. Not with this one though.
You do need to spend some time setting it up - especially if you want to get the "Activities" doing everything exactly how you want it. I didn't find the software very intuitive to start with, but once you have a couple of devices set up it becomes pretty straight forward.

I would add that if you don't need the full functionality of the "One" (number of devices and rechargeable dock, mainly), that the 600 or 650 actually feel a little better in the hand (in my opinion) and add the four coloured buttons (which you can, of course, add to the touch screen on the "One" instead).
I also think that the 600/650's use of hard buttons at the side of the screen work a little better than the touchscreen.
All just my opinion, of course, but seeing as you can get a 600 for about £40, it's definitely worth it if you don't need quite so many devices.

great remote.when i first got it i was a little worried ,it felt alot to spend on a control i had loads of one 4 all kameleon handsets probably the first 3 gens and not been that impresed(battery life and ease of use)
but i can say for sure if my harmony broke down today i would get a new one tomorrow and not think twice about it
im not sure how long ive had it but i got it when it first came out and its still going strong and with 3 small kids thats pretty good

Agree my other 4 or 5 remotes are in the cupboard in case they are needed but its been 2 years (i took the batteries out them ages ago) Once setup a great piece of kit only complaint needs good line of sight to devices not very good at bouncing signal of walls etc. Definately a 9.5/10 product - Their support is excellent as well spoke at length (they called me) to resolve switching input for my Panasonic Freeview/Freesat - Even after I was happy and closed call the guy called again a couple of days later to try some quicker/better code that he wrote afterwards.

Well, the OH and I are getting a little fed up with the array of remotes we've accumulated: Sony TV, DVD, amp, CDP - all need their own zappers. Would the Harmony be the answer? or should I look elsewhere?

I'd really recommend the Harmony... honestly, I have not touched any of the original remotes since getting the One set up... OH and kids (age 7 &10) have no problem with it either! One of the few recommendations that doesn't need any qualifications!

Harmony all the way in my experience. You can't go wrong. Unless you get the 300. Don't get the 300.

Can't comment on the 555 specifically, but re the One - setting up is time consuming if you want everything 'just so'... I find the software not as intuitive as it should be in this day and age, but that just may just me and once you do get your head around it you're away... the One certainly supports the complexity I need eg changing sub settings depending on input....

Don't know if you bought it already, but don't forget you can't control a playstation 3 with the harmony, unless you get the harmony adapter for playstation 3, since it's bluetooth.
Anyone controlling the lights with theirs?
I had a 555 but gave up on it and haven't used it for over a year but have decided to give it another go. I'm thinking to be a real Couch Commando to be able to dim the light with it as well.
Anyone know if one of these is a good bet?

I've seen on websites that you can programme activities like watch a film - can you name these how you want? Also, how does it work for instance, on my B D remote there is an 'Audio' button. Is there the same button on the Harmony remotes or do you have to programme a aka button and remember?
