Gerrardasnails:I've seen on websites that you can programme activities like watch a film - can you name these how you want? Also, how does it work for instance, on my B D remote there is an 'Audio' button. Is there the same button on the Harmony remotes or do you have to programme a aka button and remember?

There isn't an audio button but on the Harmony One you can either program a physical button or one of the touch screen buttons (which you can then label as audio).

Hi,

Unfortunately when you stop pushing the wife's buttons, she stops being cooperative and you wish you had the option to upgrade...

Cheers,

Well i can honestly say i would not be without it now, its a fantastic bit of kit. When you get a little more familiar with it you can also customise the buttons and add functions.

Bigboss - i must say that swith looks a good idea. Can you turn the lights dow with the siwtch aswell or do you need to use the remote all of the time. Sorry to hijack the thread but i had to ask.

That's a dimmer switch. You can operate it by hand & by remote. If you gently tap it, it switches on/off. You can dim/brighten it by keeping a finger gently pressed on it.

Yeah, I have 5 components that're remote controlable + VHS player (the remote died some time ago).

In complete agreement with all the poster. I love Harmony One but I am a little fed up with all the touchscreen / screen stuff.. (I am kind of tired of reading too many displays) I like the remote to be all buttons only and I got a little cheap too by going for Harmony 300. Best small money ever spent. I changed more number of AVRs since I got my Harmony 300 but never looked back on the original remotes.. However this solution might not work for you as 300 controls only 4 devices.

Which ever model of Harmony, I am sure you will find it to be the best VFM investment ever!!!

I control my lights with my 555 too, remote can switch on/off as well as dim/brighten. However, these dimmers cant be used with energy saving bulbs. Switches are much cheaper on ebay.

I would recommend a harmony remote, but one thing that puts me off buying a more expensive one is that my 555 is about 3 years old, treated well, but some of the more used buttons (like 'watch TV') are failing, which is a little dissapointing.
