Linn Tukans with Marantz Pm6007 & CD6007

Hello,
Only just joined this so be gentle with me.

I've recently updated my system but I'm not over impressed with the sound.
Everything is bi-wired correctly, with decent cables all round.

Is it me or is this not a good match?

I have some old Mission 731 pro's in the cupboard as new and packed away 20 years ago when we started a family.
Is it worth giving the pro's a go?

Many thanks..
Tc

Hi, first of all, wellcome to the forum. Your combination if CD and amp from Marantz is very good. Character of the amp is more musical, forgiving not analytical or cold. Linn Tukans ate designed for small rooms around 16-20m² and the best mated with Linn or Naim Audio electronic. They are not very sensitive and with 4 ohm rating, they will be happier with amp whitch has more "steam" and control than Marantz 6007. One of my friends has combined same Marantz amp with QAcoustics 3020i bookshelfs. It works very well combined. Also combination with Fyne Audio speakers will work very well. Mission 731pro could work better with your amp than Linn Tukans. Mission 731pro are typicaly sensitive, easy to drive with sound full of details. I recommend to make a trial at home. If your room is bigger than 20m², than I recommend to try small floorstanders. Let us know pls. results if your trials. BR.

Thank you for the reply.
The room is quite small, 8mtrs x 4mtrs and I don't have a conventional layout. (See photo)

I do have my original stands (AZ Apollo) in the garage and they are excellent but I just don't have the room now

The Missions will be fired up shortly and If I like what I hear I will post back to you guys and probably sell the Linn's, which are mint.!

Very much appreciated.

Hi, room 8x4m is not a small one. Pls. Make more pictures inside room to get some idea what to easily improve before you anchor your hifi in the room. And I like sparkling wine ready for party with your neighbour and your hifi.🥰

Nah. That's fine.
I will sell them.!
Thanks..
Just a quick update chaps.
I cleaned the old (like new still) 731 Pro's up and have set them up.
They sound so much better, I may be going mad but they sounded faster as well??!!

Can anyone suggest a decent platform to sell the Tukan's on.
They recently came from Rayleigh HiFi and have been tested and serviced. I would say mint condition.

My budget system was just not good enough for the Linn speakers.

Many thanks all..

I would once have said eBay, but it's not what it used to be. Buyers now pay a protection fee on top of your asking price, and you're now limited to using eBay's 'Simple Delivery' option, via Royal Mail or Evri. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot...

Glad the synergy is working for you.

🤔
Yet it was good enough to make the Missions sound so much better than them.
Glad you're happy 👍
(First time I've seen Rayleigh Hi-fi mentioned in a post - I live between the Southend and Rayleigh stores).
Me too.
Southend has gone but Rayleigh and Chelmsford are still going.!
They were very popular once and my first hifi shop experience in the 80's as a young boy.!!
Happy days...

Thank you.
I have given up with eBay.
After copying my passport and calling me at home they still cannot verify me.
All I done was change my mobile number.
Cheers..

Haha..
Not quite. Hockley.!

I have looked for job at MA but got no response.
I'm working in the electrical industry but have applied for a position with KEF. I fancied a late change.
I have put the Tukan's up dlfor sale and just purchased a secondhand project turntable.
I didn't want anything too fancy as I don't have much vinyl.
I still have my 37 year old marantz cd player working well.!!
Happy listening...
