Hello, i have read the topics about the negative sides of plasma, like buzzing, line bleeding and a dirty screen effect. I have owned for more then a year a 42px80 panasonic plasma, which only has a buzzing sound.

Now i have bought a lg plasma, the 50pk250, which has terrible line bleeding that is als noticiable on normal content and it has a dirty screen effect. There are verticale grey lines visible on light backgrounds on panning shots. Others who own this tv too, they say they dont.

A plasma 'expert' of the lg service has come today and he didnt think it was normal, but then again he told me maybe lg think it is. Do you think it is just a risk you have to accept when buying a plasma, or do they need to replace it until you get a set that doesnt have these problems that obvious?

ps; sorry for my english

Hello steven,

No that does not sound right to me, the buzzing is to be expected as long as it's not very loud but the picture effects you speak of are in my opinion a fault with the tv. I bought a Panasonic 42G20 3 weeks ago and it shows no signs of these problems, it did have some phosphor trailing but it's almost non existent now it's getting run in and will only improve further.

I looked at the LG 50pk590 before i bought the G20 but found reports of image retention and phosphor trailing but no reports of the line bleeding and dirty screen you refer to so i would say the tv should be replaced, it seems it may well be faulty i'm afraid!

I don't except that it is just a risk you have to accept when buying a plasma as my tv dosen't have the problems so i would be contacting your retailer for a replacement or refund, those sort of picture faults just aren't acceptable on a brand new tv and you are well within your rights to return it.

Thank you for answering! I really aprreciate your post. As i have written, my panasonic px80 doenst have any faults, accept some soft buzzing that wont bother anyone. The repair men are comparing my problems against an other Lg pk250 to see if it is normal; but even if it does i will ask for a replacement or refund.

No problem just hope i was of some help. I don't blame you for seeking another tv if they say that is normal....certainly sounds faulty to me, best of luck with the tv and i hope you get a replacement or refund very soon. Would be nice to hear the outcome if you get a chance to post it.
