LG C4 55" OLED is £980 on Amazon with a free LG soundbar

I have the LG C4 here (from Amazon). It is a lovely looking panel and seems well made. Black levels are what OLED does best and obviously beats my 5 year old Samsung QLED. More so from the sides (which I don't watch it from) but also in extreme contrast scenes though the QLED (QE55Q7F) really has fantastic black levels/contrast head on. I don't like LG's interface quite as much but I am unfamiliar with it so that probably explains this. Where the TV somehow falls down is colour or colour gamut. Bright screen colours can look more muted than on the QLED. One example of this would be Darko's opening, bright red screen. On the Samsung this looks deep red. The LG comes close but is not quite there. Similar, face colours seems somewhat off, no matter which profile and adjustments I make. Again, I am used to QLED colours which an OLED probably can't match. The Samsung also looks kinda more real, more 3d/natural but of course I only had a couple of days playing with settings so it may well be possible to achieve this with the LG.

I will send this panel back, not because I can't live with it (I can), simply because Amazon's deal is not really that good. I am considering a Sony Bravia 7, a Samsung QN90D or getting the same LG C4 elsewhere.

In some ways I will regret sending this particular sample back because screen uniformity is fantastic and there are no dead pixels or other problems sometimes reported.
I wouldn’t find the C4 bright enough either. I will keep a lookout for deals on these 3 models.

Here are some:

£887 with coupon here but no soundbar:

Bravia 7 90 days returns £15 membership online for anyone and good price:

Samsung QN90d

Save 10 per cent with code making it £809 here:

You can always get Richer Sounds to price match even Costco online.

R2D2, I have absolutely no problem with the brightness of the C4. For me it is plenty bright, even in full screen bright scenes during day time viewing, so much so that I tend to turn things down. It's no G4 but then I would rarely (never) use that panels brightness capability. I compared the C4 and G4 in shop.

Whereas the C4, compared to my Samsung seems to lag a little behind is colour saturation/gamut but that could well be because I haven't had enough time with the C4 yet.

Thanks again for your suggestions and links.

You could always go for the Samsung s90/93d OLED TV then. I liked it when I demoed it. The price at Costco online is £999 and you get a free soundbar.

Finally, I really do not like the plastic R/C. Whilst not feeling cheap per se it has nowhere near the quality or ease of use of the metal remote on the Samsung (which came with 2 remotes). I think I probably much prefer any other R/C than this one.

If the deal wasn't good, why did you make the purchase?! 🙂

Because he thought it had a 5 year warranty with it but it doesn’t.

On that topic there is a Samsung 55s90c QD-OLED TV on Amazon for £999:

I think it’s just a one year warranty though but that’s all I bought with mine. I do keep clear of gaming and news channels for long periods though.

Always need a check that there is a good warranty.

I wouldn't buy any TV, regardless of cost, without a good and lengthy warranty behind it. Don't make 'em like they used to! 🙂
