grdunn123:Both panels are exactly the same so it would appear that you are just paying extra for moreinputs, controls etc

And the added Freeview HD tuner......which will be useful in April 2011 for me...

Excellent point! A separate box would set you back at least a ton and something extra to fit in to the rack.

Admittedly the rack has space, but it might be useful if it was built in......

Changing the subject, very slightly.......

What are the larger LCD panels like these days? Worth looking into?

Which one Andy? The LG?

After the wife saw the LG 50" tv this afternoon, SWMBO decided it would be too big for the lounge.....
emotion-12.gif

Saying that, she liked the picture on the Panasonic 50" G20 tv, and has agreed I can go up to a 47"........

Research for a 46-47" tv now begins............

The PK350 Pete. I cant wait until it arrives now.

Its funny you should say that because my girlfriend was exactly the same. She said no bigger than 47". Then i just ordered it anyways haha. To be honest the 3" isnt that much bigger and were 3+metres away from the screen.

Now im trying to persuade her to let me buy a home cinema for it

.

If anyone could recommend the best settings for the TV for the first 100hours or so it would be greatly appreciated.

andy, if you want to be careful then just use the standard cinema preset for the first 100hrs, the contrast is not too high..

you will probably still get some image retention, don't worry about it, it's only going to be visible on a blank screen and is normal for this tv

Looking at LG LCD tv's now....watched the LG 47LD450 today and was quite impressed......

It has no Freeview HD tuner, so will be having a look at the LG 47LD690 and 790.....

Cheers Max i have read some of your threads on here and theyre really helpful obviously not just to me but i mean in general. Have you had yours calibrated then?? Or just thinking about it for now. I read that with this set has got some of the best settings for being calibrated so im definately considering having it done.

hi andy, no i haven't had it calibrated, in fact i've got great results from just using the onboard picture wizard . i believe the tv does benefit from a proper calibration, but at half the price of the actual tv for a proffesional to do it i doubt many will get it done..

there's another forum member on here, "AE jim" who has calibrated his pk350 himself, and got great results, but it's not easy to do, i was going to attempt it until i realised what's involved then chickened out
emotion-10.gif
. if you were to start a thread in the new year asking for calibration advice i'm sure jim would pick it up, he's very helpful and loves talking about his budget pride and joy

Thanks for that Max, i will do just that. When i post the thread would you be able to comment on the settings you have got yours set to. I wont start the thread until new year though. The set arrives the 29th and i really cannot wait.

Boys and there toys haha. But your correct in what your saying, for the price theyre isnt a better option. In fact theres not many better options for double the price. I hadnt even considered the LG i had looked at The PK 990 but its double the price.

yea sure, i'll post my settings andy, and i'm sure a few others will too, there's no harm trying them and you may even like them..

when you've got past the first 100 hours you should try the picture wizard too, it worked great for me and has given me the best pic of any of the settings i've tried
