Having recently decided to purchase some new speakers

I was intrigued by Wharfedale's recently released Super Dentons.

As a reference for what extra expenditure could bring.

I listened to Mission 700's Dali Rubicon 2, Proac D2 response and Wharfdale's Linton's

All in their own right good speakers

Now I could have purchased any of the above but found I preferred the sound of the Super Dentons .

I've ordered the new Super Dentons and saved money to purchase more music.

IAG certainly know how to milk a retro brand. What next, the Sooper dooper Dentons?

I briefly owned Denton 80th Anniversary and was a little underwhelmed by their performance. I wrote of lengthy post on the good, the bad and the ugly of the 80th.

These are a very interesting design, being 3-way and compact, quite unlike the ones pp had.

For £999 they might become good sellers, though for my ears I suspect I might prefer a KEF LS50 Meta. That said, this is such a competitive price point these days, with so much choice.

Well I've had them just under a week, very impressed so far.

They are nicely constructed , image very well with lots of detail.

The bass is strong for the size of the cabinet

Only one small criticism, the instructions are slightly confusing/ conflicting on how to
position the driver units.

So far, so good.

Just got to sort out some stands as Wharfedale aren't making a matching stand.

In regards to how the HF drivers are positioned? Reads to me that the HF drivers should be closest together. An image wouldn't have gone amiss in the manual, though (as well as better proofreading - 'tone in'?).

Yes I agree a image would have been the better option.

On initial reading of the instructions it does say the treble units should be on the inner edge,
but then contradicts itself and refers to the W badge on the speaker cabinet front should be towards the outside.

On viewing a video of a Peter Comeau introducing the Super Dentons at the Bristol hifi show and
trusting my ears I found that the best position is with the dome mid range units on the inner edge
giving a much more focused presentation .

Inside is also how ATC advise on their monitors, I think to do with the way the dispersion ‘lobes’ given that the asymmetry is deliberate.
